December 2021 Volunteer Round Up

December 2021 Volunteer Round Up

Hello – I hope that this email finds you all well and looking forward to the Christmas holiday !

Throughout December we have been really busy across all the centres, so without further ado, here are the Reach centre updates.

Reach Mansfield

Reach Mansfield have been making sock snowmen, preparing for, and performing a carol concert, made Christmas wreaths and their (now) world famous ‘Show Stopper Cakes’ !

Flower Pod Southwell

December is always really busy at Flower Pod and this month also included the welcome return of our CSR days, with local firm Minsterfb helping renovating paths, rejuvenating flower beds and making bug houses and wreaths. Clients also made wreaths, Christmas decorations and tended the gardens (which are looking great) !!

Reach Newark

Newark have been busy preparing for and performing The Lion King, in addition to singing, drama, art and the computer club. Three members of Reach Newark also helped Newark and Sherwood District Council and ImageSkool decorate an old train bridge with some graffiti art. Thank you to Lynn Preece at NSDC and James at Imageskool for a great day !

Reach Newark also received an award for designing and preparing posters for the Hate Crime Awareness Week – brilliant work everyone !!

Flower Pod Newark

As well as harvesting the last of the flowers and vegetables from the garden, Flower Pod Newark have visited Southwell Minster to look at the ‘Southwell Leaves’. They have also been generously gifted a 2400l water tank from Rototek to help harvest water for the garden.

Reach Southwell

At the Southwell centre the clients have been singing, making Christmas decorations, and learning how to manage money.

Thank you to the Coop Southwell who recently presented Reach with a cheque for £8,007.00 raised by ‘club card’ holders who nominated Reach

Did you know that you can support Reach through the Co-op’s Local Community Fund every time you buy Co-op branded products or services? We’re raising funds though the Co-op to provide therapeutic support for local people with learning disabilities who face multiple barriers to inclusion including problems caused by sensory sensitivities, severe anxiety, and phobias. Our tailored interventions will include bespoke support from our expert staff and a comfortable, safe environment in which our clients can learn, participate, and achieve their goals.

All you need to do to nominate Reach is visit Co-op (coop.co.uk) and click on ‘Start supporting this cause’ today.

As we say goodbye to 2021, we can’t thank you all enough for the help and support you have given to Reach over the past twelve months. Once again you have all been amazing and helped staff provide a safe and enjoyable year of activities for the clients. Thank you from all the staff and clients at Reach and we look forward to seeing you in 2022.

Wishing a Happy Christmas & New Year to you and yours.

All the Best
