Our Young People’s Group enjoyed a busy, fun-filled day out in Nottingham last month.
Two Project Workers and a volunteer accompanied the group for the day. As well as watching the Lego Batman Movie at the cinema, the group had lunch at McDonald’s and later enjoyed a couple of Games at Laser Quest.
Not only was this a fantastic opportunity for the group to socialise and spend time with their friends, it was also a chance to practice skills such as handling money, ordering food and going on public transport. The group really enjoyed the buzz of being out together in Nottingham on a Saturday – a great time was had by all!
For the last six months, the Young People’s Group has received funding from Y-Notts; a Nottingham charity that gives grants to young people or groups for the purpose of furthering their education or personal development. The funding contributed to the trip to Nottingham, as well as enabling the group to purchase equipment including tablets and musical instruments which will continue to be used during their weekly sessions.
The Young People’s Group meet for a social at Reach Southwell every Monday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Each week involves a different activity such as baking, pizza-making and film nights. To find out more, call the Southwell office on 01636 819066.
