We went to a place called FarmEco. It’s local to Flower Pod.
I went with people from Flower Pod Southwell, my friends and volunteers.
Elizabeth gave us a tour and she was lovely. She told us what was going on at FarmEco.
We went on a tractor and trailer. We went on a tour around the fields and we went to see some sheep. We walked around with them and enjoyed the landscapes. We were talking about straw, barley and maize. We talked about biodiversity.
There were animals in the barn and you could feed them. There were pigs, sheep and goats and when we went in the field we picked apples and maize. We fed the apples and maize to the pigs. The pigs were nice and friendly!
We were looking at types of animal feed, which had molasses and maize. Some of the others from our group were grinding wheat to make flour.
There was a big pond there and we talked about what they have got at FarmEco and what we could have at Flower Pod. They’ve got a big tent where we had lunch and sat on straw bales. It would be really nice to have something like that at Flower Pod.
We saw some guinea fowl and some geese – it was nice because we don’t get to see that type of wildlife up at Flower Pod. I took some photographs of the birds and animals.
The farm was well looked after. They have volunteers like us at Flower Pod who help out. They want us to visit again next year for the lambing season. Elizabeth wants to come to Flower Pod to see what we get up to as well.
I would recommend anybody to go to FarmEco – it was a really nice atmosphere and very friendly. It was great just seeing the farming and being somewhere new to learn. I want to take what I’ve learned back to help at Flower Pod.
