Reach Southwell clients recently welcomed family carers for lunch to show their appreciation for all their support.
Clients spent time carefully setting the table and arranging cut flowers to decorate it with.
On the menu was shepherd’s pie with vegetables for the main course, which was followed by apple turnover with custard for dessert.
Family carer Susan attended the meal. “What a lovely lunch we had – it was greatly appreciated,” Susan shared. “Clients greeted us on arrival and it was wonderful to see them all. It was such a treat to be waited on and not to have to wash up!”
The lunch gave local family carers a good opportunity to connect and get to know one another better.
Catherine, our Carers Matter Project Manager, said: “It was so kind and thoughtful for the Southwell clients, staff and volunteers to treat the carers to a delicious lunch. It was made even more special because clients had been involved. Everyone had worked so hard to make the room look beautiful and to prepare and serve the two-course lunch with coffee and tea afterwards. Nothing had been missed. We all felt so well looked after. A huge thank you to everyone involved.”
Our Carers Matter project is funded by a generous grant from Nottinghamshire Freemasons. If you would like to find out more about the project, please contact Catherine at catherine.shatwell@reachuk.org or on 07715 648691.
