October Volunteer Round Up

Hello Everyone,
We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.
This week has been really busy (as can be seen from the photo’s !!!), and whilst the centres have still not fully re-opened to pre-covid levels we are continuing to re-introduce client sessions where it is safe to do so.
As you can see from the centre round ups below the clients have been really busy and it has been great to see so many of them enjoying themselves.
A massive thank you to all the volunteers who have turned out to help start rescuing the garden this week. Thanks to a lot of hard, muddy work, we’ve managed to fight back against the weeds in the middle garden which was really neglected after this summer. Lots of the soggy, weedy paths have been cleared ready for nice new woodchip this winter. The beds around the car park are looking spick and span. The Allittlements are almost ready for a new Gardening Through the Seasons course to start (led by new (to Flower Pod) tutor Sam Dakin – some of you might know her). And lots and lots of weedy waste has been sorted, processed, burnt, composted, made into insect habitats, etc. etc.
All laborious work approached with smiley faces and positivity as always – thank you all. It’s made a normal(ish) service for our clients that little bit more achievable – they’ll be planting tulips and wallflowers in the newly cleared spaces next week. And great to see a few more people in the garden – some new faces and some returnees who’ve been missed!
The clients have been working (and relaxing 😊) in the garden and using the poly tunnels for arts and crafts. These pictures and video show how their hard work is paying off and site manager Christine explains what is planned going forward.
The clients at Mansfield have been learning about the solar system and taking part in a performing arts class !!! Well done
The clients were very pleased to be back to Southwell and certainly made the office a brighter place 😊
Reach Newark
It’s been all go at Newark with the clients enjoying relaxation classes, fun & fitness, crafts and singing.
Everyone also got involved with the Hate Crime Awareness Week and made some amazing posters which are currently on display in the Newark Buttermarket.
Staff also represented Reach with a stall on Newark Market Place and will be there again this Saturday 17th October, with free leaflets, badges, key rings, pens and balloons for children and adults to take away. If you see them, please stop by, and say hello.
Finally
Once again thank you for your continued support of Reach, we really appreciate all the help and messages we have received over the past couple of months.
If anyone is interested in returning to volunteering, helping out in either of the Flower Pod gardens or in the Southwell office garden, please let me know your availability and we will provide you with all the details.
We are also developing a pool of volunteer drivers to help provide transport for clients to/from sessions (using the Reach van). If you are interested, please let me know.
Take care and best wishes to you and yours
Best Wishes
Wayne
