A donation from Southwell Torpedos, a newly-formed community support group providing doorstep support to local people during the coronavirus crisis, has given Reach Learning Disability a helping hand to launch the next stage of their crisis appeal to help people with learning disabilities and their families in Nottinghamshire.

Reach were delighted to achieve their original target of £10,000 in just two months, thanks to the overwhelming support of local people, meaning they have been able to quickly adapt their services to help keep people safe, well and connected at home whilst their centres in Southwell, Newark, Mansfield and Flower Pod are closed. But there is still much more to do they have extended their crisis appeal to raise more funds to continue to offer ‘remote activities’ for people at home whilst piloting new, safe ways to support people who are struggling to cope.

Julia Sandhu, Reach’s Fundraising Director said “the Torpedos are doing amazing work; their reputation and success has been well recognised across the area. This donation will help us to deliver more wellbeing packs and offer telephone support to people with learning disabilities and their family carers in Southwell”.
